Human Rights Center

The Human Rights Center works locally, nationally, and internationally to provide training, educational materials, and assistance to professionals, students, and volunteers working to promote and protect human rights. The Human Rights Center was founded on December 10, 1988, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Center works at the nexus of scholarship and practice in the human rights field, seeking to maximize the effectiveness of human rights advocates.

2017 Human Rights Fellowship Program

2017 Summer Fellowship Opportunity: International Criminal Law

The Human Rights Center will support 1-2 students for summer internships with the International Criminal Court (ICC), International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), or the Mechanism International Criminal Tribunal (MICT). The selected students will receive recognition as a designated UMN Law School nominee, an institutional letter of recommendation, and if accepted by the UN, a Human Rights Fellowship of up to $5,000 to cover expected expenses. Applications must be submitted to Vicky Nguyen at the Human Rights Center by Monday, November 21, 2016 (12:00 pm). Please feel free to contact the Human Rights Center with any questions.
