Work by Prof. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin as U.N. Official Cited in New York Times

Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin’s work at U.N. Special Rapporteur was cited in the New York Times. The Biden administration has repatriated a family of 10 American citizens who had been stranded for years in desert camps and detention centers in Syria run by a Kurdish-led militia that battled the Islamic State. As U.N. Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Prof. Ní Aoláin inspected the prisons and camps in July 2023 and worked toward the repatriation of persons who were arbitrarily detained.
